Creazone Nosphoris

HOLY TEXT WALL! sorry about that recomended I give this a shot and I did, and my god I had fun with this! I missed freeform drawing and creating like this, and plan to do more of it in the future! anywho~ this is an entry for a small contest over at where he is creating a story line that requires special monsters and creatures, winner gets there creature featured in the comic~! that and its super fun ^^ check it out!

Third power: Energy (sound; it uses clicking sounds for its echo location, this sound cannot be tracked and always sounds like its coming from all around)

Strengths:
Extreme speed and dense skeleton
cartilage tipped tail can be used for whipping and stabbing, is also flexable enough to choke with
Completely silent save for rapid clicking of its teeth
claws are in a scoop like shape, deals crippling damage when cut
Large sturdy tusks and sturdy yet flexible spine designed for goring targets
Whole head functions like an eardrum, able to pick up sounds creating a map with all sounds

-Is VERY dangerous in packs, and in dark areas, as it blends in completely into darkness
-clicking sounds tend to unnerve, disorient, and scare prey

Weaknesses:
Very loud sounds, screaming or shouting will over load its senses, and force them to flee, it does take a great deal of noise though to scare them off
still blind and tend to charge, if possible, side stepping to force them to miss and loose its target or run into a wall
Hitting the creatures head will severely injure it, and throw off all its senses, this will cause it to either flee, or lash out... prey they flee

Behavior:
The Nosphoris are creatures who always hunger and thirst, they require specific proteins in order to keep its bodies metabolism running properly. There favorite sources of this protein is blood and special insects that tend to burrow into living creatures to live off excess nutrients in there host in turn for protection.

The Nosphoris are keen hunters and fairly ruthless, with there keen senses they can track the parasites and there homes, they will then hunt the home creature, stalking them and gore them without much warning. It is actually highly possible to survive the initial gore attack but because of the force and damage of the attack, its highly unlikely you will have any kind of strength to fight back as the next phase begins.
Using its large clawed paws, it holds the target upright and in place, usually hunched over with the whole it made in reach of the two small hands in the center of its ribs, it will then begin to pick and dig away at the bloody wound, pulling open new holes in the target, all to pull out as many of the insects as possible. After its insect meal, the Nosphoris will latch onto the targets shoulder and begin drinking there blood, getting water and more protein, and once it has had its fill, it discards the body too the side, uncaring if its alive or dead, to head for its new meal.

The Nosphoris tend to be followed often by scavenger animals to eat the fallen creature once the Nosphoris are finished.


When hunting in a pack, it usually means they are going for something much larger then one can handle, aside from that, its you kill your own meal. If the pack is successful in taking down a target, they will then dig into the creature, pulling insects and blood, and even in this case, eating the raw flesh, getting more energy and sustenance, this is a rare occurance and usually happens only during either dire times, or when the packs are having a celebration of sorts.

Habitat: Dense forests and winding cave systems on there home planet, the planets forest is thick enough that the sun is almost completely blocked out, another reason for there need of protein, to help keep them warm.

Diet: Insects, Blood and on rare occasions meat

Brief Description: The Nosphoris is a VERY dangerous predator who is not so much keen on attacking creatures to make them food, but to harvest food from them, they are a rare case of sadistic animal who will discard full carcasses when they no longer have a need for it, either its out of blood and or out of insect infestation, leaving the poor being to die by its wounds from the Nosphoris' previous gorging and invasion.

They have 6 paws, and four limb, there front limbs branching out into two forarms and paws at the elbow. This was an evolution design for the creature to be able to have better grip, and be able to also over power targets much easier.
Ending each digit of the beasts paws are hoof like claws, which are very thick and strong, but also hollow, they are used for efficient climbing, but also deadly rakes which are capable of creating deep and sever wounds in there targets.

The Nosphoris have no eyes, or even any sort of semblance of ever having them, they instead rely on scent, and sound. Though they do not have ears in a conventional way, the top of there heads just behind there mouth have become one massive ear drum. It is a very sensitive device, and the wisest thing to do is strike it with all your remaining might before they do too much damage to you, or you might only anger instead of scare them away.

There long tail is mostly for show and supporting defense, they lash the long tail about to tap the cartilage end against rocks and trees adding more sound for them to map out, but when needed, the tail can be used much like that of a stingrays, piercing there targets or whipping them.

Females have a decently sized indent between there rib cages, this is used to hug there young close too them to keep the kittens safe and warm, this is also where the kittens can nurse. The creatures will care for there kittens for 6 months like this before they are too large and must be released, that is when hunting lessons will begin. During nursing stages, the males will hunt for the females bringing back rodents and even venison like creatures for its mate to eat. During nursing periods, the females require larger quantities of protein, so they must eat full meat.
Nosphoris mate for life, and if there mate or infant are killed, no matter what the age, they will hunt down the murderer until one of them have died.

Size: They grow to be about 15 feet from head to rump, there tails easily growing too that length as well, making the creature about 30 feet. Both males and females have tusks protruding from there mouths that can extend anywhere from 1 to 4 feet in length.

Forms of Attack:
There preferred mode of attack is of course charging and goring. The Nosphoris are proficient in charging to the point of altering there trajectories at near will, and even crossing over trees and running along walls and rooves, so long as they are capable of holding there talons into the surface.

Tail whips and stabs are also a mode of attack, though rarely used, these tails are strong enough to puncture kevlar and even steel if the Nosphoris is of a good age and strength.

Raking and slashing with there large spade like claws is common as well, though they mostly use there claws for holding purposes, these claws have no trouble tearing strait down to bone.

Bitting is usually used to create a direct path for blood flow, bitting at sensitive and heavily flowing points of a body, though even without they have VERY strong bites, and are capable of generating approximately 800 pounds of pressure per square inch.

Other: VERY dangerous approach with caution, and when on its planet, be sure to keep all bugs off of you, if any get into your body, no harm will come from the insect, but you will be a prime target for the Nosphoris
